Family, Greed, And Wealth

Abba Father, El Elyon, The Most High And Powerful God, the Creator of all that is and all that was, and will ever be, I rise to this day believing it is You, O Lord, who blesses us with family, friends, good health, and the kind of wealth that extends far beyond money and things. Father, I realize life is about more than accumulating money and things, even though money makes it a lot easier to live the lifestyle of one’s choosing. Your word warns us, “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. No one can serve You and money.” In the world in which we live where it seems the moral compass of so many people is broken, it seems there are no limits on what is done for the quest to accumulate money and power. Father, I ask You, in the name of Jesus Christ, to open the eyes and understanding of those who are unaware of when the desire to accumulate wealth becomes all-consuming, it can darken the realities that make them value money more than You, family, friends, neighbors, other people, helping others, family times, and even self-care. Greed, at its highest and most toxic level, causes one to sacrifice all things for its own end, even the seeker's integrity, own life, and the lives of others. O Lord, please, I ask You, deliver us from evil, evil-doers, and greed. It is evident to all who live in You that those who trust in their riches will fall, but those who love and serve You will thrive like a green leaf, and be sustained no matter how perilous the times become because we rest in Your faithfulness and Your promises. Father, there are those who assume their financial security will turn into other forms of security; physical, relational, communal, and spiritual, but are woefully misguided, please save them from themselves, and the evil one and his cohorts. Lord, please help those who seek wealth and trade their integrity without seeking the prosperity of their souls, let them know the power to get divine wealth comes from You alone. They ruin themselves and their families by bringing decay, hate, and deceptive practices to their households, but the one who hates bribes will live and look to You as their source. Father, I ask You in the name of Jesus Christ, please guard me and all those for whom I pray, against the all-consuming greed that causes one to never be satisfied by cultivating devotion to You, generosity, a commitment to honesty about the proportion of our own desires, so we do not fall prey to greed and vanity. Let us bless others as You have so richly blessed us, in Jesus' name, I ask and receive all things. Hallelujah! Amen!

1 Timothy 6:6-10 NLT: Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth. After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we cannot take anything with us when we leave it. So, if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content. But people who long to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.
